Limeade: Chemically polluted water
Gatorade, Powerade… Now Limeade. Looks like they believe you are going to pay for anything what’s name is ended on “ade”. Limeade Sparkling Cherry of Walmart is another food additive concentrate to destroy people’s health. I consider this as “food terrorism.” Carbonated water is the only nutrient your body can make use of. All the rest is just chemical pollution. Look at the red DyeDiet risk diagram below.
DyeDiet Doesn’t Buy It!
Limeade: Risk, Nutrition and Dye Content
It says ALL NATURAL… flavors and calorie free. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful pictures of lime and cherry: Natural is flavor only, all the rest are synthetic sweeteners, preservatives and the artificial colorant Red 40 in the amount of 20 mg/liter. Yes, benzaldehyde is naturally occurring chemical they use as a flavor but make no mistake: the drink contains ZERO juice as you can read on the back of the label.
- Potassium benzoate is a food preservative with low acute toxicity in rats (LD50 ~ 4g/Kg, see Potassium Benzoate MSDS). However, in acidic medium it may produce highly toxic benzene that is known to cause cancers and reproductive damage (see Benzene MSDS).
- Aspartame is an artificial sweetener, a dipeptide of phenylalanine and aspartic acid with a highly controversial history. Recent extensive studies demonstrated that, unfortunately, aspartame produces multi-potential carcinogenic effects in rats even when administered in as low a dosage as 20 mg/Kg, that is 2.5 times lower than the 50 mg Acceptable Daily Intake in the USA! Also, significant dose-related increases of malignant tumors in rats were found. Please watch a video: Aspartame. Here is a special report on Aspartame.
- Acesulfame potassium is another synthetic sweetener. Despite poor-quality toxicity tests, acesulfame potassium was approved by FDA. Center for Science in the Public Interest recommends to avoid acesulfame potassium. So by consuming this and other artificial sweeteners you pay for long-term toxicity tests on yourself. Do not try to deceive your body with the fake sweets, there is always a price to pay: A Role for Sweet Taste in Calorie Predictive Relations.
- Red 40, an azo dye (read PDF document Food Dyes: A Rainbow of Risks)
With all these chemicals you will take a record high chemical risk of DDFI = 38/2 = 19 and you will get record low nutritional value of DDNF = 2/49 = 0.04 that is even worse than what you get with Zero Coke. Limeade is another liquid good to commit suicide.
Bottom line. Filtered water for $1.11 per 3 gallons or mineral water for $1.50 a bottle are REAL ZERO CALORIE drinks your body needs, not the chemically contaminated monsters of Walmart. Protect yourself and your loved ones: hydrate right!
