SunnyD: Dignity or Disgrace?
The way food industry treat Americans is often shameful. One of the nastiest marketing tools which have been exploiting for decades in America is to expose nice pictures of fruits on front and load the product with pesky ingredients instead. But what astonishes me even more is that millions of Americans keep swallowing all those lies and fakes with no disgust expressed! What’s wrong with you, people of once free country? How can you drink that crap which is way worse than the drinks in a prisoner’s menu? Even criminals deserve 100% juices! Let’s go over the label again, people.
Sunny Delight Beverages company doesn’t even try to cover anything. What it takes you to know the truth is just reading the label. And the truth is that their Fruit Punch contains only 5 % juice and 95% of:
- Water and
- Corn syrup
Moreover, the total 5% juices come from 2 % or less each of concentrated juices: apple, orange and grapefruit. Who knows how much less? But let me make reasonable assumption. It contains mostly of the cheapest, apple juice, and a few drops of the others. That’s why the fruity pictures are designed to please your eye. Then they dump a bunch of chemicals and flavors for you and dye the resulting syrupy fluid with yet another two chemicals: 50 mg of Red 40, and a tiny bit of Blue 1. (Read PDF file Blue colon at autopsy).
DyeDiet Doesn’t Buy It!
Why would anybody agree to allow all this crap into the blood and brain? Not me, people, not me… Why? Because I do pay respect to myself and to my body! I do reject any products that treat me like cattle, like a slave. And you can stop this too if you still remember what a human dignity is about.
So, if you choose not to drink SunnyD (and Kool-Aid, by the way!), you don’t take 4 strange chemicals (red segments in the diagram) that may trigger allergy or cancers and you avoid taking high risk of DDFI = 33/15 ~ 2.2. Also, if you don’t buy SunnyD you are not humiliated by laughable nutritional value DDNF = 15/50 ~ 0.3 which even xenomorph would reject! Why you don’t?
DON’T YOU EVER FORGET: YOU ARE A HUMAN!
The more you deviate from human diet the less human you are
This explains WHY not to drink SunnyD!
SunnyD Orange Cherry with no cherries
The bulk version comes under the name of Orange Cherry screaming about 60 calories and beautiful cherries on the front of 1 gallon FridgeFit bottle. How about health fit? How about cherries? None even close. The 60 calories per 8 OZ are in fact the same 120 calories per 16 OZ bottle. This is the same stuff as the above. Any differences? Well, a couple more chemicals and two drop of juices, tangerine and lime, for you.

In addition to about the same high risks and humiliating nutrition you will also get sodium benzoate (read PDF file The effect of some colours and sodium benzoate on children’s behaviour). No need guessing where the red color comes from: the same 50 mg of Red 40 per every 16 oz of your drink (380 mg per gallon)! Read this: Behavior, Learning and Health: The Dietary Connection. If you aren’t fully satisfied, here is sucralose crap to “lower” your carbs intake. (Read why sucralose is not a solution and PDF file A Role for Sweet Taste Calorie Predictive Relations in Energy Regulation). Also there is another useful article by Fooducate related to SunnyD. See, I am not alone!
Truth sets you free. Education empowers you in your search for truth. If you people want to stay in denial, that’s your choice I respect too. But don’t ask for the big government’s aid (from taxpayers money) when you receive your gigantic medical bills later on. All right?
Better choices. The right choice is simple: three gallons of filtered water at Walmart for $1.30 or Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water for $1.50. While I am not sure that the quality of tap water in the US is good enough to be generally recommended, it often can be a better choice too. Rely on your nose! Anyway, you can easily sort out any beverages where you see artificial food colorants in the ingredient lists. Why take chances of triggering cancer or mental health problems in your child or yourself? Please stand for a healthy American diet and healthy future of this country!

You may think this day glo liquid looks like a healthier alternative to orange juice but it’s actually more like sweetened water.
This article is no better than toss cooperations that make this stuff. You prey on confused people that “think” they want to reason with you. You make them seem more “human” by not consuming sunnyd. No better than those moms that say vaccines cause autism. Sodium Benzoate is a preservative found in nearly every food (even dried fruits) matter of fact it forms in cranberries and apples! People like you need to research and reason before telling others about your “AMAZING DISCOVERY” or on all those papers on the behavioral effects on children (those papers have been rejected). Just realize that you are not as smart as you believe and move on.
You are correct in the part that benzoic acid (or its sodium salt – sodium benzoate) is widely spread in natural sources. However the amount allowed into the human body is what makes ANY substance toxic or not. For instance, if you have drank ~1.7 gal of pure water (as in “water drinking contests”) 50/50 chances are that you will die (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_lethal_dose) and you will die for sure if you drink up 2 gallons of pure water over 30 minutes! Again, the amount is what makes a substance toxic, not its natural or unnatural source. Botulinum toxin (“Botox”) is natural protein which is the most toxic substance known.
The amounts of benzoic acid found in cranberries are relatively low and tell us please how much cranberries (by the way, they are quite expensive!) do you eat daily? Now compare that with how many bottles of cheap chemically stuffed artificial drinks you (or other people) drink every day and you will see a huge difference and a serious reason for concerns.
From simple course of organic chemistry one can find our that in acidic medium sodium benzoate and benzoic acid may form BENZENE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzene), known human carcinogen. Acidic medium means not only gastric acid of your stomach but also ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) inside of your body cells.
Moreover, recent research published in 2007 for the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) suggests that certain artificial colors, when paired with sodium benzoate, may be linked to hyperactive behavior ( http://myomancy.com/food-colorings-and-hyperactivity/ ).
The question is: Why, why take chances of getting sick for lifetime?
